Steeping
Black 212 degrees Steep 4 to 5 minutes Full, rolling boil
Oolong 190-200 degrees Steep 2-3 minutes Steaming rapidly, little bubbles
Green 160-180 degrees Steep 2-3 minutes Gentle steam, no bubbles
White 155-165 degrees Steep 3-5 minutes Very light steam
Puerh 208-212 degrees Just off the boil Dark 195-205 degrees Steep 4-5 minutes Steaming rapidly, little bubbles
Herbal 212 degrees Steep according to supplier Full, rolling boil Boiling temperatures vary depending on supplier or manufacture. Boiling temperatures should be no less than 75 degrees and no more than 212 degrees.
Remember do not steep the tea leaves too long. Steeping tea too long causes bitterness.
How to brew tea when you're at home
1. Buy good tea.
2. Make sure that you are tapping into a good water source.
3. For best results, freshly boiled water is preferred.
4. Pour a small amount of the boiled water into your ceramic or glass tea pot. Swish the water around to warm the pot them pour this water out.
5. Use one teaspoon of tea per 6 ounce cup. If you like your tea a little stronger allow the tea to steep longer.
6. Pour prepared water over the loose tea leaves
7. Set your table with items specific to those that you invite. Tailor your menu with your guest in mind.
